Three-Time Tresses
By The Intermountain Catholic (March 4, 2011)

For the past three years, Madison Ulibarri, a 7th-grader at Saint Vincent de Paul School in Salt Lake City, has grown her hair long, cut it and then donated her hair to “Locks for Love,” a national non-profit organization.

The Locks of Love program provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 in the United States and Canada suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Using donated hair, they create high-quality hair prosthetics, helping restore children’s self-esteem and confidence, and enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Madison heard about the program three years ago through her hair stylist, Alene Jordison, owner of Hair Today in Holladay. Since then she has been donating her “locks” each year to the program. Madison says she feels good about doing this, knowing that her donated hair is helping children in need. She feels blessed to know about the program and enjoys helping other kids who don’t have hair.
