St. Vincent's December 2008 & January 2009 News

All School Mass (December): December 8th at 9:00 a.m. (6th grade) will be doing the readings.

All School Mass (January): January 28th at 9:00 a.m. (4th grade) will be doing the readings.

7th/8th Grade Dance: No Dance is held in December. In January the dance will be held on January 23rd at Madeleine Choir School NEW LOCATIONS at 6:30 p.m. Students must bring their student id to attend.

Christmas Concert: The Christmas Program is on December 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the church. Come early for good seats.

Martin Luther King Day Assembly: January 16th at 11:00 a.m.

8th Grade Bishop Mass: January 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine.

Nano Nagle Childrens Center Open House: December 13th and 14th from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This daycare will be opening in the convent at St. Vincent’s School in February and will accept infant to 3 year olds.

Auction News: “Surfin’ USA” Auction will be on Saturday, February 7, 2009. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED!!!! It is not too late to get it in your reservation form. We continue to collect donated items for our silent and live auctions. If you have an item to donate please bring it to the school office. We remind every family to try to purchase some raffle tickets as well. Tickets go home in December.

Raffle Kickoff Assembly: January 5th at 2:00 p.m. We will have a fun raffle assembly which will explain the raffle to the students so they know all the incentives and prizes they can win. Please sell, sell, sell.

High School Placement Exams: December 6th at both at Judge and Juan Diego Catholic High Schools.

NO SCHOOL (Christmas Holiday): December 20th through January 4th. Classes resume January 5th.

NO SCHOOL: Monday, January 19th for Martin Luther King Day and Friday January 30th for School Accreditation.

Catholic Schools Week: Begins January 25th through January 31st . Money will be raised for Heifer International Choir and Bell Ringers Students in these groups will perform at IHC Hospital on December 10th at 11:30 a.m.

St. Vincent Sponsored Extra Curricular Activities:
Basketball: Practices begin in November. First games are scheduled around December 6th. Pick up form at front office.
Ski Program: Fridays a bus will come to our school and take the kids to Brighton for ski/snowboard lessons. Forms are available in the office. Questions call school office 277-6702.
Mock Trial: 7th/8th graders looking for students to work and present a case for mock trial.
Band: Practices are during school music class and after school. If interested call the school office 277-6702.
Choir: After school on Wednesdays and is for Grades 3rd and up.
Scouts: Call Pam Grant 263-2685 to find out who is your child’s scout leader.

Dress Code: Even if the weather is warm, students need to wear pants after November 1st. On snow days students also must bring snow pants, hats, gloves and coats. Students do go outside for recess even when it is cold.
