Auction: CATCH A WAVE and mark your calendars now for the 14th Annual School Auction. This year our theme is "Surfin' USA" a tribute to the Beach Boys and will be held on Saturday, February 7th. So BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL and get ready for some GOOD VIBRATIONS in the Holy Family Hall and we'll have FUN, FUN, FUN til that daddy takes the T-Bird away!!!
Innisbrook Gift Wrap Sales: Each year our students/parents sell Innisbrook Giftwrap. The event will kickoff August 27th and run through September 15th. 50% of sales come back to the school and this year will go towards a prayer garden on the southside of the middle school, painting the inside of the gym and to purchase 10 more laptops to update our computer lab. Remember you can order giftwrap on line all year at www.innisbrook.com and put in our school code 107798.
Scrip Cards: We have a variety of gift cards available for purchase. Anywhere from supermarkets, music stores, clothing stores, restaurants. To see a list of script supplies please come by the school office. Script is sold on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday before and after school. We encourage each family to try and purchase $100 - $200 per month. If every family participates we will eliminate the gift wrap sales in the fall. Order Form
Smiths Earn & Learn Program: Pick up a Smiths Fresh Values card and designate St. Vincent's School to receive 2-5% back on your purchases. Once designated, all you have to do is scan the card and quarterly Smiths sends our school a check. For more information go to www.smithsfoodanddrug.com.
Albertsons Community Partner Card: Present this card to the cashier and our school receives 2-5% back on your purchases. You can pick up the card in our school office. For more information go to www.albertsons.com.
BoxTops: Clip and save the boxtops from General Mills products. For every one you clip we get 10 cents. This adds up throughout the year. Twice a year we have a contest, so save your boxtops for the next contest. For more information go to www.boxtops4education.com.
Campbell Soup Labels: Cut out your "Labels for Education" on products like Campbell soups, Prego and Pepperidge Farm products. We run two contests a year, so save those labels and lids for your student to turn in during the next contest. For more information go to www.labelsforeducation.com.
Cream of Weber Milk Caps: Purchase Cream of Weber milk and save the lids. We get 5 cents for each milk cap turned in. A school contest is done twice per year so save them and then turn them in during the next contest. For more information go to www.creamoweber.com. |
Grants
Shopa Kids in Need Foundation (November 2007) $300 for 2nd Grade Language Arts Community Service Project called "The Hat Tree." Students will be decorating hats for pediatric cancer patients and each writing a story about the hats called, "The Hat Tree." Students will work on their writing skills as well as give back to the community. In addition the students will Podcast their stories which will be posted on the web.
Shopa Kids in Need Foundation (November 2007) $300 for 7th grade “Shakespeare Under the Stars”. This grant will be used for costumes and set designs for 7th grade Shakespearian performance under the stars in May 2007. The students will encounter Elizabethan England and learn about theatre and live performance. It will also help them learn that written text can be performed to broaden understanding and develop expression. McGraw-Hill-Companies (August 2007) $25,000 in books were donated to our school. We received a selection of art text books for all grades, reading books for our lower grades, science information books and spanish early reading books for our spanish program.
YSA - Youth Ventures (July 2007) $1000 to our National Junior Honor Society Members to do a community service project entitled "The Hat Tree". These students will be making hats and writing stories to accompany their hats and will be given to Primary Childrens Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Center and Shriners Hospital.
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (February 2007) $200 for our Middle School Students to learn about aeronautics and study planes and wing design. They will participate in creating their own motor driven planes out of Basal wood and test them in flight.
ERATE Funding (August 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007) Approved funding which helps discount our telecommunication, T-1 line, and internet charges. We have been approved for $4700 each year and this will help offset our telecommunication costs.

Philip McCarthey Family Foundation (June 2006): ($25,000) St. Vincent's received a $25,000 grant from the Philip McCarthy Foundation and will be used to install security cameras around the school and church property. These cameras will be tied to a monitoring system in the school office and help make our school campus more secure.
R.L. Burton Foundation (May 2006): ($14,600) The R.L. Burton Foundation has given our school $14,600 to help update our playground. A new swing set will be purchased, new ground cover will be put in, the spider will be removed and 2 new pieces will be added to help keep our kids physically active during recess.
National Gardening Association (May 2006): St. Vincents was awarded 202 Bulbs to be delivered Fall 06 as part of the Kids Growing with Dutch Bulbs Grant. Our students will plant these as part of a service learning project.
National Endowment for the Humanities & American Library Association (March 2006): We are one of 2,000 selected libraries across the United States to receive this We the People "Becoming American Bookshelf" grant. A variety of books will be donated to our school library all reflecting on becoming American. Throughout the 2006-2007 school year, our school will be having assemblies, bookclubs and guest speakers pertaining to these books.
National Gardening Association (February 2006): 10 Rosebushes were donated for a Remember Me Rose Garden to help kick off our middle school meditation garden. We are one of 20 schools across the country to receive this grant which will help us to establish a rose garden to commemorate the events of September 11th. Beyond their commemorative significance, each garden will also be catalyst for education in conflict resolution and mediation skills, preparing students to seek and achieve fair and peaceful solutions.
Shopa Kids in Need Foundation (November 2005): $350 for the Kindergarten Opera. Students will study language arts by going through the steps of producing an Opera in the Spring 2006. The students will be instrumental in helping to write the lyrics, work on sets and perform their parts in the Opera.
Shopa Kids in Need Foundation (November 2005): $300 for 3rd Grade Science "Solar Powered Ovens." The students will learn that the sun is the main source for heat and light for the earth while using foil to make several food dishes. The students will also learn math skills , recording findings and making charts.
E.L. Wiegand Foundation in Reno Nevada (August 2005): $90,000 grant for a middle school science room. This money will be used to create a middle school science lab in our 8th grade classroom. Construction will transform our 8th grade classroom and renovate it to become a middle school science room. Funding from the E.L. Wiegand Foundation in Reno Nevada, will allow St. Vincent's to have a state of the art science room complete with science tables, microscopes, and an array of science equipment which will allow our students to do hands on science experiments that complement their textbook.
Youth Venture, Inc: (August 2005) $600 Grant from Youth Ventures for our National Junior Honor Society to make book on tapes for the St. Joseph's Multigenerational Day Center and work on literacy issues.
Utah Aerospace Foundation (August 2005) $500 grant for our middle school students to study aerospace, planes, wing design. They will participate in creating their own motor driven planes out of Basal wood, fly them and then go on a field trip to Hill Airforce Base.
McCarthey Family Foundation Grant (Awarded Jan 2004) Thanks to the McCarthey Foundation for donating $35,000 to our school to update our aging fire alarm. Our school updated the fire alarm in June 2004 and had the first fire drill was September 2004. Everything ran smoothly. Thanks to Todd Brashear for helping secure the funds.
Best Buy Grant Awarded (Awarded Feb 2004): Our school was selected for the Best Buy Grant for technology needs. Rhea Hristou (2nd grade teacher) brought her themed units to life via interactive technology.
Unsung Heroes Innovative Teaching Grant: (Awarded Fall 2003) Congratulations to Cindy McDowell (4th Grade Teacher) who received a $2000 grant from the ING Corporation. She was recognized for her innovative science teaching on the Great Salt Lake. Her project allowed her 4th graders to have a hands on learning experience at Great Salt Lake in May 2004. Besides a field trip they also did experiments on samples taken from the Great Salt Lake.
Maurice Robinson Service Learning Grant: A $400 grant was awarded in February 2004 to our National Junior Honor Society to create books on tape for the Christmas Box (a shelter for abused children). Under the direction of Rhea Hristou our students purchased books, recorded them on tape and delivered them to the shelter. The National Junior Honor Society is a group of students in 7th and 8th grade who have demonstrated strong academic marks (3.5 GPA or higher) and good Christian conduct.
Poloroid Learning Grant: Amy Valdez (3rd Grade Teacher) 2003 was awarded the Polaroid Visual Learning Grant. She received Polaroid cameras and film for her project entitled: Determining the benefits of having a positive attitude and writing about it. The students took pictures of things they felt were important in their lives which help maintain a positive attitude. After these pictures are taken, the students will put the photo's on a picture board, write an autobiography and then present it to the class.
Kids in Need: Amy Valdez (3rd grade teacher) received a $400 grant from Fred Meyer (Shopa) for her micro economy. The money was used for a project that allowed her students to understand the role of economics in their daily lives.
NCEA Grant: Fall 2004 Terry Stack, 5th grade teacher received a grant to allow her students to learn about water conservation and then create a pamphlet for the school and parish on ways to conserve water. In addition they will be posting information on the web.
Youth Service America Grant: Our National Jr. Honor Society received a grant to make fleece tie blankets for a charity of their choice. They will be making them in November 2004 and delivering in December 2005.
